Balkans Beyond Borders extends the submission period until the 20th of May 2012 giving the opportunity to film creators from the Balkan region and beyond to continue their work on their short film. After further consideration and feed-back from prospective participants, the initial deadline for receiving submissions has been extended in order to allow those who wish to send their films to dedicate more time to the production of their films, hence ensuring a better quality of submissions. Balkans Beyond Borders opens the call for submissions for the 3rd edition of Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival.
Celebrating Balkan diversity, multilingualism and communication, the 3rd edition has as title “TALK TO ME”. For one more time young artists up to the age of 30 from the Balkan region and beyond (Southeast Europe) are invited to create their own short film related to this year’s topic. The submission period runs from the 10th of November until the 1st of April and the festival will take place in Tirana in May 2012. Read more »
Manuel Šumberac was born on 05th of August 1988 in Pula in Croatia. In 2007 he graduate The School of Applied Arts and Design in Pula, Department of Graphic Design. Now he attends the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Animation and New Media in Zagreb. During the study till now he received several recognitions and awards.
From 2008 till 2009 he worked as leader animator on the animated film GULIVER by Zdenko Basic, who won the Grand Prix on the festival “19. Read more »

The Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival 2011 addressing the question of“Who’s afraid of the Big Bad crises?” took place with great success on the 20th- 22nd of June 2011 in Athens at the six D.O.G.S. venue. People from the Balkans and beyond attended a 3days programme of 37 short films (15 out of which produced during 3 collective workshops), a photo exhibition, a DJ party with Panina Karydi and the live gig of LikedisLike band from Turkey. Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival 2011 opens the doors to all young and creative people as well as everyone passionate about the short film industry in 20- 22 June 2011 in Athens at 6 D.O.G.S. People from all around Europe are invited to a 3day party of multiculturalism with short films, photo exhibition, DJ parties and live bands. BBB supports all young film makers that put all their film-making energy into building bridges between the peoples of the Balkans.
This year’s festival tackles the topical subject of crises, posing the question: “Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Crises?”. “Often we wonder whether there is new beginning or a dead end!” Young Film Makers from the Balkan region and beyond put all their imagination and creativity and answer the question through the art of Film making.
