With the installation titled “Balkan Baroque”, Marina Abramovic (Belgrade, 1946) won the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the Venice Biennale in 1997. The artist sat down for six hours a day, for four consecutive days, on a pile of cow bones, washing them and removing the flesh in an act of purification and evocation of the war. Read more »

“Who’s afraid of the Big Bad crises?” is the title of the Balkans Beyond Borders Film Festival 2011. The winning film of the Balkans Beyond Borders Film Festival 2010 will participate to the finals of the International Film Festival of Naoussa. It is a film from Italy (co-production Serbia, Italy, Belgium) called Ne mogu se vratiti ako ne odem” by Luiggi Mete. Using wisely the image and the antithesis it reveals impressively the sense of the Balkan reality and mentality. Balkans Beyond Borders representatives are invited to support the film and the Naoussa Festival, which is BBB’s partner.
