The 11th Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival “contrUst : it is U who makes the difference” will feature a special screening of French short films under the title BBB FOCUS- FRANCE. This peculiar year Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival adopts a new form and becomes digital! The 11th BBB Short Film Festival changes destination and instead of going to Izmir, due to the cancelation of all physical events as safety measures for COVID-19 by the Izmir Governorship, it goes DIGITAL. All screenings will be live-streamed on Facebook and Youtube following the Festival screenings programme and will be available only the days of the Festival from 1 to 4 October.
Βalkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival every year alongside to the Competition Programme with Balkan Short Films, focuses on a specific country beyond the Balkans, in order to establish an international network of collaborations among young artists. In an attempt to promote intercultural dialogue and international cooperation, after a long journey from Germany to Japan and from Estonia to Austria and then to Scotland, this year our FOCUS is on FRANCE. The BBB FOCUS – FRANCE programme will be available only in Turkey and the link will be transmitted on our Facebook nd Youtube channel.
A special tribute will be screened with French animated short films to honor this year’s collaboration with the French Culture Institute in Izmir. The French Institute in Izmir constitutes an institution that promotes French language and culture in Turkey by organizing educational programs and collaborating with cultural centers and universities in both countries.
The screening will be carried out in collaboration with Miyu distribution, aiming to create a communication channel between young artists of the Balkan region and France in order to improve the relationship between the Balkans and the rest of Europe. Created in 2017, MIYU distribution aspires to promote animation short films among the french audience by distributing the graduation films of leading animation schools, as well as, films from independent production structures.
