The 14th BBB Short Film Festival – Athens Edition, titled Edgetales, comes to Athens from the 12th to the 14th of January 2024 at the Greek Film Archive Foundation (Tainiothiki tis Ellados). After the 14th Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival in Nikšić Montenegro this October the festival travels back to its hometown, Athens, under the ‘Twinning Cities’ approach.
The theme Edgetales is inspired by “fairytales” which narrate stories wishing to re-articulate and re-contextualise the notions of the border, of limitations and liminalities, of personal experiences that make visible that which has been kept hidden and unseen.
The 14th BBB Short Film Festival Edgetales – Athens Edition will develop upon a multi-thematic character. Featuring a competition programme of 33 short films consisting of the screening sessions Tradition Revisited, Marked Bodies, Archived Memory, Contact-less, Dis-wanted, and Not for Granted, the 14th BBB SFF will also host a tribute to Montenegrin short films in collaboration with the Film Center of Montenegro accompanied by a special event hosted by the Embassy of Montenegro in Greece, a screening of the medium length film “We all come from somewhere” with accessible subtitles for D/deaf and hard of hearing people in cooperation with ATLAS E.P., a screening session with selected short films created by students of the School of Film of Aristotle University, a photography marathon powered by SEE in Action, and performances at the cinema foyer by the groups ANOMIA and Apleti Kipi.
