The 7th Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival travels to Sofia, Bulgaria exploring the multiple identities in the Balkan region and beyond.  Inspired by our “Tagged” in a changing world theme, young film makers from the Balkans and beyond will present their work at Vlaykova Cinema, (Tsar Ivan Asen II St 11, 1124 Sofia) from 15 to 18 December. 4 days Short Films Festival and not only… story telling workshop, round table, photo shooting event, photo exhibition and many interactive activities!

One of its kind, Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival travels every year in a different Balkan city tackling topics of contemporaneity and focusing on new regional productions, functioning as a stage of supporting and promoting young and emerging filmmakers. This year the Festival tackles the theme of Identity: Our world is built upon diversities. Communities are built upon similarities. – Can you identify yourself in the society you live in? – Do you consider yourself identifiable?

The Pre-selection Committee which consists of Ana Grgic (Croatia), Bozhana Shoskova (Bulgaria), Firuze Karaoglu (Turkey), Faruk Berker Agun(Turkey/Sweden) selected 40 films out of 500 from 38 countries to take part at the Competition Programme while the Best Film Prize 2016 will be awarded by our Jury: Antonia Milcheva (Bulgaria), Wouter Jansen (the Netherlands), Dimitris Argyriou (Greece).
